people here are unbelievably nice. I'm here in Great Bend, Kansas and
its in the dead center of the state. My trainer is Elder Madson and my
district has one other companionship.
On the plane ride to Wichita I sat by this lady from Georgia. She
asked me what I was doing and I told her I was going on a mission. She
told me she had been a drug addict and she told me how Christ saved
her from that. I talked to her about the restoration and we talked the
whole ride about the gospel and our beliefs, she was an amazing person
and it was an awesome conversation and I gave her a pamphlet, didn't
have a BOM on me which is me being a horrible missionary I know, but
it was so good to talk to her and she has such strong faith in Christ
which was awesome and it was so fun to talk to her about our gospel.
So we got here in Kansas on Tuesday and we had dinner at the
presidents house and stayed at the AP's apartment. The next day we met
our trainers and got our areas. We have talked to members and they
have taken us to dinner a lot of nights (it's been good to eat real
food this week). They are the nicest people ever.
On Wednesday we talked to a lot of recent converts and less actives.
We also went to taco bell to eat and when we were there I heard Shake
it Off by TSwift!!! Our motto on that is "if you can't avoid it, enjoy
it" and that we did.
Thursday we taught some investigators, we had lunch at the Great Wall
Buffett (big mistake) and had dinner at Wendy's with a member and had
ice cream at a members house.
Friday we went with the other companionship to their investigators
house and they thought it would be funny to pick on the new guy so
they had their investigator come out shirtless with a mask and start
rubbing a knife all over his body, there are some weirdys here.
Saturday we went over to this guys house and did family history with
him and I got mine all the way back to Adam and Eve and he thought
that was so cool so later we got a text and he said he got his all the
way back to Adam and Eve too and he was pumped about it haha. Also
that day we went over to this kids house and their family has like 6
dogs and he wanted us to watch anime with him the whole time which is
so weird, so we told him if he found Mormon anime we would watch but
he couldn't find any so we got out of watching anime! Phew!
Yesterday was a fantastic day. We had church and I gave a talk on
being member missionaries because the ward there is very small. We
talked to a lot of random people and we knocked on one door and this
lady opened it and.... She didn't have a shirt on :/ it was horrible.
So I guess that's Kansas for you... Later that day we had a "movie
night" with our districts investigators the other companionship
brought a couple that they were teaching and we brought a couple we
are teaching and we watched ephraims rescue. We are having dinner with
them on Tuesday so hopefully we can commit them to baptism.
Lots of crazy experiences and fun experiences already, I've really
grown this past week my prayers are so much more meaningful out here
and the atonement has helped me and i have seen how much it is helping
everyone out here in Kansas. I can't tell you how much I've missed all
you guys this week, but the Christ has helped me and your support has
helped me. I love you all, keep emailing me I love hearing from you
